Live From #NeoCon10: Artistic Tile causes lasting Treble

Posted by Sonja Hall, 3rings

“Believe it or not, tile design can be as trendy as permed bangs. As someone who understood that the hideous color combination on the tiles of our bathroom was all wrong (before I found out that my rolled up Girbaud jeans had become uncool) I knew that there was such a thing as interior trends from a very young age. Speaking of the latest trends in design, the synergy of Artistic Tile’s glass mosaic line they call Treble debuted last week at the amazing NeoCon show.” Read more

Live From #NeoCon 10: K & B Galleries Invites You to the Second Floor

Posted by Alicita Rodriguez, 3rings

“Excepting brief forays in NYC and Atlanta, I’ve lived most of my days in a single-story house—a lifestyle choice that finds favor with my creaky knees—yet I still have a periodic yen for an upper-level and all the perks that perch brings: a view, commune with flying creatures, a feeling of comfortable remove from the rabble of the street. “Hoping to maximize your time at NeoCon? Or can’t make it to Chicago but want the full scoop? You’re in luck: Merchandise Mart Properties enhances its digital coverage of the commercial interiors show by teaming with online product library DesignerPages.com. All introductions being unveiled by the 700-plus exhibitors will be viewable by June 14—and much of it is already live. Click on the “exhibitors” link to browse companies’ virtual catalogs, complete with photos (some too small for my taste) and downloads.” Read more

This year’s buzzword is multipurpose, and companies like Harter, Arcadia, and Dauphin have created versatile, modular furniture that encourages creativity and impromptu collaboration.” Read more

Live From #NeoCon10: Uno and Zero by Karim Rashid Improve Workflow

Posted by Alicita Rodriguez, 3rings

“Everyone knows you can’t escape NeoCon without laying eyes on a Karim Rashid creation. Last year we focused on the Pyramid Chair, shaped like an upside down triangle. This year, Rashid is moving from hard geometry to organic curves. His Uno Desk for Stimex almost looks like it’s melting—something in its shape reminds me of the bitumen art/furniture pieces by FORMLOS. In fact, if Rashid’s Extraordinary Family actually came to life, I believe they would own Uno.”  Read more
